Solutions

The methods listed below are effective against this QuickBooks error-

Solution 1- Configure the hosting settings in your QuickBooks

The multi-user network setup in QuickBooks contains a server computer that hosts a company file in multi-user mode, and all the workstations can access or work on the file in Single-user mode. This error occurs when one or more workstations run in multi-user mode which is unacceptable because only the server computer is allowed to run in multi-user mode. Refer to the steps below to fix this error-

  1. Go to all the workstations starting from the ones that developed this error.

  2. Open QuickBooks, click on File, and select Utilities.

  3. Ensure the Host multi-user access option is visible, and if you see Stop hosting multi-user access, click on it.

  4. Repeat these steps for all the workstations.

  5. Open QuickBooks on the server computer.

  6. Click on File and select Utilities.

  7. Ensure it runs in multi-user mode by selecting the Host multi-user access option.

  8. Try to access the file again after configuring the QuickBooks hosting settings.
